My friend Jessica made this beautiful Hello Kitty cake. Lydia loved it!
Lydia got plenty of presents. She has had days of opening packages. Is it just me or do pieces to toys get smaller as my daughter gets older? She has enjoyed each of her gifts. She also got a new bike from mom and dad.
Make a wish! The cake didn't just look cute, it tasted great too!
Lydia has gotten a party every year. Now she expects it. Ali hasn't gotten one yet and I want to change this party expectation of Lydia's.
What do you do party wise for your kids and how can I change from her every year expectation?
Happy Birthday to Lydia! I never realized she's just a few weeks older than Kevin's daughter Taylor.
ReplyDeleteHow cute is she!! Happy Birthday! And that cake? It's official - I now want a Hello Kitty party.
ReplyDeleteAs far as parties go - I still expect one on MY Birthday each year (I love hosting parties, so it's sort of a problem). If you ever need ideas, just let me know! I will tell you that themed parties will save you - if you have a theme to play with, it will be loads easier to plan.
That cake looks really professional!!! Happy Birthday Lydia! How come she is crying in the first picture?
ReplyDeleteThe cake turned out cute- Jake had so much fun. He told me about all of the fun gifts she got- At this rate, he's going to want Barbies and dolls for his birthday!
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday Lydia! Well, I don't really have party ideas. But, I had a friend who did a cupcake party, where the cake was made out of cupcakes, the kids made cupcake cutouts, and got to decorate their own cupcake. And they had a cake walk, with cupcakes. I dunno if that is a good idea for you, but I am thinking about doing it for James Micheals 3rd Birthday. Love Audra
ReplyDeleteI think Lydia is crying in the first pic because she didn't win one of the games. She's a little sensitive sometimes (and those that know her realize that's an understatement)
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday Lydia!!! Love, Aunt Marlene.
ReplyDeleteNote to Mom. I gave up about after their 4th or 5th birthday. I know your Gramma Despain's idea about birthdays was you had family birthdays only, with the exception of your eighth, twelvth, and 16th birthdays. At least that was what she told me, I don't know what she did for the other kids. Aunt Marlene
Happy Birthday Lydia!
ReplyDeleteOur rule has always been friend parties on even birthdays and just family on the odd ones. They don't get their first party till they are at least 4 years old.
Those kitty ears were a great idea! Boo still wears hers around the house.
ReplyDeleteOne family I knew that had 6 kids changed their parties, too. After the first birthday, they only got a party on the even years. This way, you cover the big ones (8, 10, 16, etc.) but parents aren't taking out loans to fund them. They also had a small, immediate family only dinner for the birthday girl/boy during the odd years so there is some celebration.
Happy Birthday Lydi-bug! What a fun party, I wish I could have been there.
ReplyDeleteIt depends on how often you want to throw one for her is what you tell her. I like what mom and dad did for us (which apparently is what G-ma did for dad) is have a friend party on 8, 12 & 16. So you could tell her that now she's a big girl she can have a friend birthday party when she gets baptised. Then maybe do one for Ali when she turns 4.
Good luck and love you!
